Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery Statement 2024/25

Introductory Statement

Hever Care’s values – Compassionate, Aspirational, Responsive and Exceptional – are embedded in everything that we do. Our long-term success depends on our adherence to those values, our integrity and our commitment to legal ethical, safe, fair and responsible practices.

As a sponsor licence holder, we are in a unique position to help identify potential human trafficking situations and have a responsibility to help eradicate this illegal trade. Hever Care is committed to fighting against modern slavery and human trafficking.

This statement is made voluntarily pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes Hever Care’s modern slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 March 2024.

Structure, Business & Supply Chains

Our Organisation

Hever Care is a CQC-registered provider of home care services, incorporated in England and Wales.

We deliver home care, respite and housekeeping services in West Kent, and provide live-in care services across South East England. We ensure we operate in a safe, responsible and ethical way through robust decision-making and policies, including:

  • Team member handbook (containing standards of conduct)
  • Corporate governance
  • Freedom to Speak up (Whistleblowing) Policy
  • Safeguarding Adults Policy
  • Procurement Policy.

We fully support the Government’s objectives to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking and recognise the significant role the health and care system has to play in both combatting it and supporting victims. This includes being strongly committed to ensuring our supply chains and business activities are free from ethical and labour standards abuses.

Our Supply Chains

Our success is built on our values and ethical conduct. Our commitment to our role in eradicating modern slavery and human trafficking extends to our supply chain. Our main partner organisations include providers of software and associated services, personal protective equipment, and clinical supplies.

Due Diligence Process for Slavery and Human Trafficking

We undertake internal due diligence processes including regular assessments of suppliers to ensure adherence to expected standards. We make an effort to use suppliers known to the wider health and care system who provide services to the NHS. As of 1st April 2022, all NHS organisations are required to adopt Procurement Notice PPN06/20 and specific guidance on how to apply the social value model of procurement.

This ensures suppliers operate to ethical standards and do their part to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking.

Training

To ensure we understand the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking in our organisation and supply chains, our senior team have all undertaken CPD-accredited human trafficking and modern slavery training.

Our senior team share the principles and learning with the wider team.
