Accessibility Statement
This statement explains the accessibility standards Hever Care works to for digital information, and sets out the current position and improvement plan for www.hevercare.co.uk.
Important qualification: a preliminary automated review of www.hevercare.co.uk has identified accessibility issues that require correction. Hever Care does not rely on this statement as evidence that every page of the current website is already fully conformant. The identified issues are being managed through the improvement actions set out below.
Digital accessibility standards we work to
Hever Care aims for digital information to be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust. New or materially revised public-facing content is designed and checked against WCAG 2.2 AA and any accessibility requirements incorporated into the relevant commissioning arrangement. Our minimum publication controls are:
- a logical page and document heading structure
- meaningful link text and labels for forms and controls
- sufficient colour contrast and no reliance on colour alone
- keyboard accessibility and a visible keyboard focus indicator
- text alternatives for informative images
- content that remains usable when zoomed or reflowed
- plain language appropriate to the intended audience
- accessible source documents rather than image-only scans wherever possible
- captions, transcripts or alternatives for multimedia where required
- an accessible contact route for reporting problems or requesting another format
Current website position and improvement actions
An in-house WAVE scan of ten representative pages on 15 July 2026 identified the issues below. Automated testing is only one part of an accessibility assessment, so manual keyboard, zoom/reflow and screen-reader testing is also required and planned.
| Priority | Area | Required action | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Critical | Form labels and grouping | Add labels to unlabelled dropdowns and correctly group related form controls. | Priority remediation |
| High | Colour contrast | Correct low-contrast text on Careers and Help Centre cards or tiles. | Priority remediation |
| High | Headings | Remove empty headings, correct skipped heading levels and mark visual headings up semantically. | Priority remediation |
| Medium | Links | Remove empty and immediately repeated links and ensure every link has meaningful accessible text. | Planned remediation |
| Medium | Visual conventions | Remove underlining from text that is not a link and avoid layout tables. | Planned remediation |
| High | Manual testing | Complete keyboard-only, focus, zoom/reflow and screen-reader checks across the main templates and journeys. | After technical fixes |
| High | Publication statement | Publish a concise HTML accessibility statement reflecting verified results, known issues, contact routes and review date. | After manual testing |
